CLIMALIT SILENCE

CLIMALIT SILENCE is the best double glazing arrangement for reinforcing acoustic insulation.

It consists of a CLIMALIT system with one of the panes replaced by a pane of STADIP SILENCE.

STADIP SILENCE is a laminated glass specifically developed to reduce noise pollution. Incorporated in a double glazing system, it can offer reinforced acoustic insulation in addition to the comfort and safety of CLIMALIT with STADIP.

STADIP SILENCE is commonly formed by two panes of 3, 4 or 5 millimetres in thickness, closely joined by interleaved polyvinyl butyral, and must be positioned facing towards the area to be protected.

The composition of the STADIP SILENCE to be used, (3+3), (4+4) or (5+5), will depend on the level of acoustic insulation required and the dimensions of the cavity.

CLIMALIT SILENCE combines the thermal performance of CLIMALIT with the acoustic insulation and safety of STADIP SILENCE.

ACOUSTIC INSULATION AND SAFETY

It should be stressed that in acoustics, the insulation provided by a set of elements is conditioned by the element providing the least insulation.. The quality of the framework and the way the glass is fitted can be detrimental to the insulation provided by the glass, and it is therefore necessary always to study the acoustic insulation of the windows as a joint glass + frame assembly.

The 4 dB (A ) improvement in the acoustic insulation that CLIMALIT SILENCE offers over standard Climalit is very significant: for the human ear, a 3 dB (A) fall in a noise source is equivalent to reducing the perceived noise by half, since the response of the ear to an acoustic stimulus is not linear.

How can we optimise the acoustic insulation?

As we have said, the CLIMALIT is made up of two panes of glass. It provides an appreciable improvement in acoustic insulation when compared to normal monolithic glass, which means a reduction in annoying noise from outside.

But sometimes, when the outdoor acoustic level is especially loud or the acoustic comfort required is very high, it is necessary to install CLIMALIT SILENCE.

Because of the combination of glass and butyral, STADIP SILENCE - which forms part of CLIMALIT SILENCE - offers excellent acoustic insulation.

Each material acts as a barrier against noises of a different type and, consequently, the assembly provides reinforced insulation against a broader spectrum of noises.
